Patient safety and benefits.

Safety checklists.
Similar to the airline industry, we review an extensive series of checklists before every case to ensure that all equipment and monitors are working properly, and every possible safety measure has been taken.
Mitigating risk.
Pre-operative assessment. Although there are some inherent risks, the safety record for office-based sedation and anesthesia administered by a Board-Certified Dentist Anesthesiologist is unsurpassed by any other system of anesthesia delivery. Because safety is our primary objective, all patients require a recent pre-operative physical evaluation by their physician from which we will identify prospective patients for these ambulatory care options. This pre-operative evaluation is the most important part of this process. It will help us determine whether your child meets all the criteria for obtaining office-based sedation and anesthesia. Our multi-faceted pre-operative assessment helps mitigate risk and is required for all patients. This comprehensive evaluation ensures that every available piece of information is considered while establishing inclusion for these services.
Post-operative assessment. During the recovery period, your child will be continuously monitored until reaching a point where they are able to maintain all their protective reflexes, and are emerging from sedation/anesthesia safely. When appropriate, the anesthesiologist will conduct a series of tests to confirm the patient is ready to be discharged into the care of a responsible parent or guardian. Patients will not be released until they have met specific criteria that ensure their safety while fully recovering at home, and parents confirm that they are comfortable supervising this ongoing recovery period. This process is never rushed, as we encourage parents to remain at the office until they are 100% confident in their ability to supervise their child. Later that afternoon, your anesthesiologist will personally follow up with you via a text or phone call to ensure your child has fully recovered from the procedure, and answer any final questions.
Our equipment.
Patients are monitored with the exact same hospital-grade equipment that is used in an ambulatory surgical center or hospital operating room setting. Our Board-Certified Dentist Anesthesiologists are equipped with the most advanced monitoring equipment available, which creates a mobile operating room environment, right in the comforts of a familiar environment.
Patient benefits.
Reduced cost.
Services are a fraction of the cost of conventional care within the hospital, even if your insurance does not provide any coverage for these services.
Personalized service.
The anesthesiologist will personally walk you through every step of this process. You will always have direct access to his/her cell phone number, and can contact them for any reason 24/7.
Prompt care.
Unlike in a hospital setting where you may wait around for hours, this service will waste no time. If your child is scheduled for a specific time, this is when your child’s care will begin his/her care.
Limited COVID requirements.
COVID status will be based on the dental office's current practices, which, unlike hospitals, do not require invasive testing procedures. We rely on identifying visible symptoms which directly affect our care, as COVID testing has been shown to be very unreliable.
Familiar environment.
No need to be treated in an unfamiliar and frightening medical facility, or sit among other potentially sick patients. Your child will enjoy the familiar comforts of their dentist’s office, helping to alleviate anxiety frequently associated with hospital visits.
Flexibility.
Greater access to care provided by mobile anesthesiologists offers patients expanded scheduling flexibility, while the ability for parents to take an active role in the process has been shown to help alleviate patient stress.
